Following is a state by state listing of links to vital records (for birth, death, marriage, ect. certificates) and unclaimed property lists. The links can change often but I try to check them monthly. If a link doesn't work, you can search for specific states using the terms "(state) vital records" and "(state) unclaimed property". Under unclaimed property, be sure to check all of the names you have used as well as names used by realtives. Proof of claim must be submitted to each state. The links should have complete instructions regarding how to request official certificates or unclaimed (sometimes called "abandonded" or "escheated") property. |
