Fun fact
As early as the 17th century, a building for storing artillery pieces and weapons stood on the site of today’s Armémuseum. Since then, the building has been rebuilt and expanded several times before finally becoming the Armémuseum in 1943.
The museum’s collection consists of over 100 000 objects from the Middle Ages onwards. The Armémuseum has everything from uniforms, weapons and banners to smaller items used in wartime and peacetime. The objects that are not used in any of our current exhibitions are lent to other museums around the world or stored in warehouses.
